Q. What is channel 7?
A. Channel 7 (or channel7, CH7, etc.) is 7chan's official TV, movies and anime stream.
Q. How can I view the stream?

A. Go here! We also keep daily announcements of what's playing in the topic on #channel7 on irc.7chan.org as well as posting to /me/ on 7chan.
Q. How come you don't air 24/7?
A. Bandwidth limitations. Sorry. Also, there just wouldn't be many viewers throughout most of the day.
Q. So when are you on-air then?
A. All features start at 7pm PST/10pm EST/3am GMT unless otherwise noted. We usually air for about 4-5 hours.
Q. How are you streaming?
A. We do most of our encodes with ffmpeg2theora (http://v2v.cc/~j/ffmpeg2theora/) using a video bitrate of 500. We use Ezstream to do the actual streaming. (http://www.icecast.org/ezstream.php)
Q. Can you use my server?
A. No. Sazpaimon has kindly let us use his ftp server and we don't plan on changing that any time soon.
Q. Can I provide content for CH7?
A. If you encode something (and make sure that it's synced properly ;P) upload it to rapidshit/megaupload and let one of the CH7 staff know and we'll try to add it to the playlist.
Q. Can I join the CH7 staff?
A. No.

A. If you go to our irc channel (#channel7 on irc.7chan.org), anyone with a & beside their name is staff. A. kfine. First you need to download an irc client such as mirc (http://www.mirc.com/), xchat (http://www.xchat.org/) or you can use the chatzilla firefox add-on. (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/16) Type "/server irc.7chan.org" (without quotation marks) to join 7chan's server and then type
"/join #channel7". To register your nickname, type "/msg NICKSERV REGISTER password email". For more irc help, ask someone in the channel, your local ircops, or GOOGLE, MOTHERFUCKER! >:0

A. Ask any of the CH7 staff in #channel7 or talk to the ops. (You can identify them by the @ or % symbol beside their name.) The #channel7 ops are: LiekOhEmGeeWTF, artifakt, [23], anonimouse, Mergatroid and fetusomnom. (NOTE: Nad and ^__^ are bots with ops. >:D)
Q. Can you tell me more about the history of CH7?
CH7 started in mid-January 2009 when a few of us were sitting around in #psych discussing movies. (Namely Anonimite, LiekOhEmGeeWTF, deadbabies, artifakt and Exiled.) We started off by using ustream while we chatted in a (now dead) channel called #movies. The original staff in #movies were Anonimite, Exiled, deadbabies,
RaggedDruid and king_of_hearts.
At the same time, m3gach33zy and Skypilot were working on a way to get movies to stream through the 7chan radio server. We joined together and #channel7 was born!
CH7 continued to run while 7chan was down but without any boards to advertise on, it was pretty quiet.

Q. ZOMG THE SYNC IS TOTALLY FUXORED ON THIS MOVIE I'M WATCHING, HOW DOES I FIX?
Unfortunately this has been known to happen from time to time. This is usually fixable in VLC by adjusting the synchronization of the stream. Simply find the button that's circled and arrowed, go the synchronization tab, and adjust the "Advance of Audio Over Video" value. Generally, if the video is desynced something will be posted on 7chan and people in #channel7 on IRC will have found a correct value to sync it for. Here is an illustration so you know how2sync:
